To access from the north: on SH1, ca 500 metres north of junction with Coast Road, take the small road west into Evansdale Glen Scenic Reserve; track starts at end of road. To access from the south, take Double Hill Road off SH1 about 500 metres north of Waitati; veer right onto Semple Road; car-park is an open area on your right after about 300 m (signed as Careys Creek Conservation Area). |
Description |
This is a challenging but rewarding walk, with opportunity to explore the rugged hills north of Dunedin and see an abundanced of birds and plants. The easiest walking is along Careys Creek from either the southern or northern entrance, though even on that the going can be muddy and there are several creek crossings. For a more adventurous experience, take the side-routes along Honeycomb and Rongamai tracks to make a loop. |
