From SH97, turn north onto Irthing Road ca. 2 km west of junction with SH6. Where Mulholland Road starts, continue straight on to end of Irthing Road. DoC permit required; contact Invercargill DoC office. Permission also needed from the landowner at least 2 days in advance. |
Description |
For ca. 5 km the track follows a drivable 4WD road to the park boundary; from there, it's a further 5 km or so on the 4WD road to Mount Bee hut. After 1 km or so, the track comes out of the bush into open land. Beyond the hut, it's a ridgeline walk to a saddle between the Irthing and Cromel valleys. |
