Take Wainuiomata Road south from Petone, then continue onto Coast Road for ca. 10 km. Entrance to Catchpool Valley on the left (easily missed). Take the track up the valley to the car-park at the end. Walks mainly lead out from the carpark. |
Description |
The Catchpool Vally offers a wonderful range of walks in the Remutaka Hills, varying from short and easy strolls of a few kilometres to multi-day tramps. Many of the walks are through mature, native coastal bush with an abundance of fern trees, rewawera, matal and cabbage trees. Birdlife is rich and you'll hear and see bellbirds, tui and kerere. Some of the walks also pass through kiwi country - so for this reason keep your dog on a leash. It's a privilege t be able to take your dog into country like this - so don't spoil it! |
