In Picton, take Dublin Street off SH1, then turn right onto Devon Street. Continue onto Garden terrace. Walk starts at the end, before the gate. |
Description |
This is a pretty walk through some beautiful; beech and fern bush. It starts with an easy stroll along an old trackway before reaching a junction, where the path splits left, to Barnes Dam, or straight on, to Humphries Dam. The walk to Humphries Dam is the easier, and more pleasant in many ways, and offers a picnic site beside the calm waters of the dam. The walk to Barnes Dam runs above a narrow gorge and is a bit more strenuous (though nowhere near as daunting as the warning signs at the beginning suggest), and ends with a view of a waterfall, and a steep flight of steps up to nowhere very much. |
