Description |
This long, 3-day, walk follows the old cattle droving route between the Landsborough and Cascade valleys and Whataroa, near Haast. From the south, the route starts with a steady climb up through bush, and eventually out onto the open land of Coppermine Creek. After that there's a long haul up to Maori Hut on the saddle, then down the other side along a path that is at times obstructed by slips and windfall. From the junction with the Moeraki track, the walk ends relatively easily, with a 2 km section down to SH6. |
