Access |
Best access is from the end of Sandeman Road, off Lower Queen Street, ca. 800 metres north of SH6; this leads onto a reserve area with a network of short paths and lots of green running space. Alternatively, start at the carpark at the end of Beach Road. For a somewhat longer walk, start at the carpark beside Richmond Aquatic Centre and take the path beside Reservoir Creek that goes under the dual carriageway. |
Description |
Despite the looming piles of compost in the recycling plant, and the noise and clouds of steam emanating from the Nelson Pine factory, and the scruffy stretch of land between, this walk has some attraction. And as dog-walkers, we're used to being given the grotty bits of public trails like this! For those who don't mind being a bit near to traffic, you can also follow the trail eastwards towards Nelson, almost to the airport, or south towards Wakefield for a kilometre or so. |
Connecting tracks |
Two Rivers Trail (link includes some roadside sections, but the roads are quiet and the verge is generally broad) |
