From Cromwell, turn off SH8 onto Barry Avenue; continue as it becomes Bannockburn Road, then Nevis Road starts where the seal ends. Nevis Crossing is 12 km from Cromwell. Alternatively, to approach from Garston, turn east off SH6, ca. 1.5 km north of Garston. |
Description |
A wide range of tracks, offering good walks in remote hill-land country. Most of the walks are along 4WD/farm tracks, which are easy to follow but may be rutted. Some tracks are also seasonally closed for lambing, so check before you go. Dogs are allowed off-leash within the conservation area, but need to be kept on-leash outside the park boundary, and no dogs are allowed on Scotchman Creek Track. But don't be put off by these conditions; this is good, open walking country and you won't feel hampered or confined. |
Connecting tracks |
Includes River Face, Dark Elliots, Sunny Elliots, Ryders and Nevis-Gibbston tracks (but excludes Scotchman's Creek). |
