From the muliple junction where Long Bay Road meets Summit Road, head up the gravel road (Hickory Bay Road) for ca. 400 metres and park at the top of the hill. There's a style into the reserve from the parking area, but this is supposedly NOT the entrance (and when I tried it, the path beyond was overgrown). Instead, walk for another 400 metres down the road until you see a plastic post with a yellow top and a faint arrow pointing up a steep bank to a fence. Scramble up this, and the entrance is via a stile.
Description
According to the DoC brochure on Banks Peninsula Conservation walks, this dog-friendly reserve offers an interesting 30-40 minute there-and-back walk along a track on the ridge to a lookout, or a loop walk returning via the road. That may be the case, but when I tried it, the path was totally overgrown and even my springer spaniel baulked at the prospect. Maybe DoC have given it some tlc by now . . .
