Description |
The Wairarapa Moana Wetlands comprise a wide lowland area that includes Lake Wairarapa, Lake Onoke and the Okorewa Lagoon. Opportunities for dog-walking are limited in this area, but the Wairio Wetlands, on the east side of Lake Wairarapa, do give an opportunitry for an on-leash walk with the chance to see some interesting bird life. The walks starts at a boggy stile on Parero Road. From the stile, there's an 800 metre walk to a bird hide looking out over Boggy Pond. and from there you can continue on for a longer 2.5 kilometre loop, returning along Parera Road. |
