Description |
This very rewarding walk starts with an uphill slog along the old stock road, off Woodills Road,on a somewhat slippery track. (Watch out, too, for the native stinging nettles.) From the junction at the corner of Tree Crop Farm, however, it offers some fine views, and after a short scurry through an area of ugly clear-fell, it's an easy stroll down through pasture and bush, then a country lane, back to Akaroa, with more fine views. For a longer walk, on the sdtock-road continue uphill at the junction with the Tree Crop Farm track, before looping back down the hill, or go even further up the old stock road and explore the Heritage Park before returning. As an alternative, you can start at the Heritage Park, walk down through Tree Cop Farm and Gregan Road to Akaroa, and then - after some appropriate sustinence perhaps - slog your way back up the stock road to the starting point. |
