Description |
Rewanui Forest Park is worth visiting if only for its ethos - and in relity, it's worth a visit for much more than that. Owned by the Trimble Foundation, it is part of the charity's endeavour to encourage tree-growing as a public benefit. It offers a series of loop tracks, which together give some 8 km of dog-friendly (on-leash) walks through native bush and farmland, affording fabulous views of the countryside. While most of the tracks are easy, some - such as the Mount Clyde Trig Track, involve a bit of a climb. It's a rare treat in New Zealand, to be able to walk your dog across farmed land like this - so enjoy the experience, and give it the respect it deserves: keep your dog on a leash. |
