Access |
From SH1 in centre of Blenheim, take Main Street westwards, and continue on it as it becomes Maxwell Road and then Taylor Pass Road. Walk starts at Taylor Dam, ca. 300 metres after junction with Meadowbank Road. Alternatively, pick up trail beside the Taylor River in the centre of town, and walk southwards. |
Description |
An easy track following the Taylor River. In the town, it passes through grassy parkland; out in the country, it traverses the gravel floodplain of the river. For most of its length, tracks are available on both sides of the river, so the walk can be done as an extended loop. In the town area, the walk includes a charming 'Writers' Walkway', where stones bearing poems written by local children have been set up beside the path. |
Connecting tracks |
In Blenheim, east of SH1, a short extension of the walk is available, on the north side of the river. |
